Natural Hair Care - Different Flavors Of Natural Hair

Why did you decide to go natural? Does this sound like an ironic question? Well, I hear this question all the time. It's funny, because I do not feel as if I went natural because I was born naturally. Let me just elaborate a little bit for the moment. Our hair was in its natural state after our deaths, but there is the idea that when a person grows out of their "baby hair" they relax their hair, or you decide to go natural. There is a subculture that has accepted the hair is relaxed so deeply that relaxing hair is now standard, and anything beyond that (ie, natural hair) is seen as abnormal. I have no personal issue with relaxed hair actually, I relaxed my hair for years. However, at this point, my hair was in full natural state. I like to focus on how to embrace their hair in a state that gave birth and how to transition your hair back to its natural state if you do not currently accept it.

When it comes to natural hair, I like to think that there are different flavors of natural hair. After I first decided to move my hair back to its natural state, I had trouble finding specific information I was looking for. Web sites directed to the natural style of dreadlocks (which I just called locks, because there is nothing terrible about them), or individuals who relax their hair without chemicals. Well, my personal taste, as well as my friends lovingly call it, in its natural and pure, they are not relaxing the hair at all and keeping it in its natural state, leaving a mat or a lock. Let me time to give further insight into each flavor, so that a deeper understanding of each.

first taste of the natural hair is a lock of hair or matting. People choose this theme from a variety of reasons. Some people choose this taste, because there's an idea that this style was to make our hair look like if we did nothing to it, that is a real natural feeling. There is also the notion that locks matted hair and was evident in the Bible times. At the beginning of the creation of combs, scissors, and flat irons were not available when the hair is left unmanaged, it will either matte or lock. There are individuals who prefer this style, but the style you want to look neat. These individuals, who are more in American culture, maintain the appearance of using wax or other substances to keep your hair in a locked state. To switch to another style of locks or matting, a person should cut his hair off. There are individuals who claim that you can soak your hair locks to loosen and remove them and still keep the long hair, but if your hair is really locked or mat together, the hair can not be "un-locked."

The second flavor of natural hair is hair that does not use chemicals to relax hair. These individuals use alternative means to achieve the look of relaxed hair. These alternatives may include pressing the hair with flat iron or hot comb, getting your hair straightened in Egypt or the Dominican salon, or simply blow-drying one's hair. The taste is usually chosen to preserve the hair from the damage that chemicals can cause, but still achieve a look that is achieved chemically relaxed hair.

third taste of the natural hair is hair that uses little to no maintenance products. Most of these individuals do not wash-and-go styling. Some people with this hairstyle feel that this style requires minimal work and less expensive to maintain. The taste is flexible with lots of looks that can be achieved with a different style. When I first started this flavor, I had to train my hair to achieve the look I have now.

One of the misconceptions is that an individual should have a certain hair type in order to achieve any look natural. I beg to differ, because I believe that hair can be trained to achieve different results, and even hair texture can change with the appropriate steps. One thing to note is that the re-training and maintenance of anything takes time and patience. Just as you can not work-out for a week and expect to see a complete change in your body you can not try to retrain your hair and expect immediate changes.

Just remember that no matter what your hairstyle or taste, always stay true to yourself.
